NDUB Daystar: 2018-2019

Editorial

As an educational institution, reflecting back to 2018-2019, Notre Dame University Bangladesh
literally bagged up tons of achievements. NDUB not only maintains the principles
of the brand ‘Notre Dame’, but also aims to train its students technically, critically, and
ethically for their future employment, making them responsible citizen, bringing awareness to
economic growth, environmental issues and sustainable development.
The milestone that has been achieved is the first successful convocation that held at NDUB
premises. Our graduates are now on the go to contribute to the world what they have learnt. This
edition of Daystar archives NDUB history, mission, and actions of the whole year along with
providing platform of knowledge sharing for the scholars and young writers on the theme: ‘The
Role of Youth and Education System in World Peace and Tolerance’.
In 2019, United Nations “Climate Action for Peace”, on September 21 International Day of
Peace, brings a clear message: the global climate emergency is a threat to security and stability.
As coastal areas and degraded inland areas are becoming uninhabitable, millions of people are
being forced to seek safety and better lives elsewhere. Solutions are in our hands: tax pollution,
not people; stop subsidizing fossil fuels; stop building new coal plants by 2020; focus on a green
economy, not a grey economy. Another significant day is The United Nations’ (UN) International
Day for Tolerance which is annually observed on November 16 to educate people about the need
for tolerance in society and to help them understand the negative effects of intolerance.
Let’s hope for a better 2020 where educating the youth on peace and tolerance will lead the
nation towards a stronger sustainable development. Notre Dame University Bangladesh is always
there in world of education to stand by the youth and for the youth. Continue reading…
