Seminar on Mental Health and well-being held

Students Affairs Office of Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) had organized a successful seminar entitled “Mental Health and well-being” for the students on 06 December, 2022 from 02.00 PM to 03.30 PM. The resource person was Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Associate Professor, Child Adolescent and Family Psychiatry, National Institute of Mental health.

The seminar had been started with the welcome speech of Professor Dr. Fr. Patrick D. Gaffney, CSC, the Vice Chancellor, Notre Dame University Bangladesh, which was followed by a very inspirational speech of Professor Dr. Fr. Charles B. Gordon, CSC. The Club Coordinator, Sr. Shagorica Maria Gomes, CSC, all the club moderators and co-moderators, members of the clubs and a large number of general students had attended this seminar.

It was a great opportunity for the students to get a clear idea about how to take care of mental health and explore the state of their own mental health through interactive session with the resource person. Different burning issues like assertiveness, resiliency, work life balance, social/ peer pressure, lack of confidence, time management, necessity of taking breaks, creating boundaries in relationships, proper use of social media, etc have been addressed in this seminar.

Students and teachers have actively participated in the discussion session. The Question answer session was managed by Habiba Akter, Assistant Professor of English department. The seminar came to the end by the vote of thanks given by Afrista Birjis, The Club Secretary, on behalf of the clubs, thanked the resource person and Sr. Shagorica, CSC for organizing this seminar addressing such crucial issues.

The Law club moderator, Shadika Haque Monia and Co-moderator, Arif Ahmed hosted the program.
