



The Notre Dame University Bangladesh Computer Club successfully organized a seminar titled “Seminar on Programming, Programming Language and Competitive Programming” on January 22, 2025, at 3:20 PM. The event, held at Notre Dame University Bangladesh, aimed to inspire and guide students in developing their skills in programming and competitive problem-solving.
The seminar began with welcoming remarks by the university’s esteemed leadership. Dr. Fr. Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC, Vice-Chancellor of Notre Dame University Bangladesh, delivered an insightful speech highlighting the importance of programming in the modern technological era. His words motivated the students to explore the vast opportunities in the world of coding. Following this, Dr. Fr. Charles B. Gordon, CSC, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, Dean of Faculty, shared their valuable experiences and expectations, encouraging students to leverage such events to further their academic and professional growth.
The highlight of the seminar was the session conducted by Nasim Ahmed, a renowned Lecturer in the CSE Department of Uttara University. With his extensive knowledge and engaging delivery, Mr. Ahmed provided invaluable insights into the field of programming and competitive programming. He emphasized that Python is an ideal language for beginners to start their programming journey due to its simplicity and versatility. He further recommended advancing to languages like C or C++ to develop a deeper understanding of programming concepts and competitive problem-solving techniques. Additionally, Mr. Ahmed discussed the importance of JavaScript (JS) for web development and encouraged students to practice their skills regularly on platforms like Codeforces, CSES, and Topcoder. His session was both inspiring and informative, leaving the attendees motivated to improve their skills and pursue excellence in programming.
During the seminar, Mr. Ahmed also interacted directly with students by solving a few programming problems live. This hands-on session helped students better understand problem-solving techniques and approaches in competitive programming. The students were encouraged to actively participate, and many engaged in meaningful discussions with Mr. Ahmed, asking questions and seeking advice on improving their skills. This interactive element added immense value to the seminar and made the session more engaging and impactful.
To honor the guest for his valuable contributions, Nasim Ahmed was presented with a token of gratitude in the presence of the university’s esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Fr. Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Fr. Charles B. Gordon, CSC, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, Dean of Faculty. The acknowledgment ceremony was also graced by A. H. M. Saiful Islam, Professor, Chairman, and Moderator of the Notre Dame University Bangladesh Computer Club, and Humayara Binte Rashid, Co-Moderator. Their presence added to the solemnity of the occasion and underscored the significance of the seminar.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Md. Khorshed Alam, Lecturer, who expressed gratitude to the keynote speaker, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation.
