About the program

M.Sc. in Computer Science is a post-graduate program to develop human resources with core competence in various thrust areas of Computer Science. The course is designed to produce the engineers with the ability to apply technical knowledge and skills with creativity. The program develops competence necessary for elective computing involving computer hardening with some freedom to tailor the program according to the student’s individual needs.

Message of the chair

Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB). The vision of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is imparting in-depth knowledge to the students, facilitating research activities, gratifying the ever changing industrial demands and societal needs.

The CSE department has been continuously fostering academic excellence through industry academy collaboration especially integrating industry demands of ICT skills into the core curriculum of the CSE program. Our undergraduate programs, faculty members, their research interests, and the broad range of activities meet the mission and vision of the program.

Program details

The Master Degree curriculum of the University is based on the Course Credit System. In the curriculum for the Master Degree Program, strong emphasis is given on acquiring thorough knowledge in the relevant basic courses, which helps the students to interact more positively with the society in which they live.

There are three trimesters in a year—spring, summer and fall—in an academic year. The duration of each trimester is 16 weeks, which is used as follows

 

To achieve the M. Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering degree a student satisfying admission
requirements has to complete 36 credit hours with thesis / project as per the following credit hours
requirements schedule:

Classes 13 weeks
Preparatory leave before Trimester Final Exam 01 week
Duration of Examination 01 week
Trimester break 01 week
Total 16 weeks

Program Structure

To achieve the M. Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering degree a student satisfying admission
requirements has to complete 36 credit hours with thesis / project as per the following credit hours
requirements schedule:

  • Thesis
    • Theory 24 Credit Hours
    • Thesis 12 Credit Hours
  • Project
    • Theory 30 Credit Hours
    • Project 6 Credit Hours

Course Offering and Instruction

The courses to be offered in a particular Trimester is announced and published in the Course Curriculum along with a tentative Trimester schedule before the end of the previous Trimester. Whether a course is to be offered in any Trimester is decided by the Department.

 
Each course is usually conducted by one teacher. The Course Teacher is responsible for maintaining the expected standard of teaching of the course and for the assessment of the students’ performance.

Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction in the M.Sc. in CSE program is English. Therefore, proficiency in English is a prerequisite for the candidates to get admission in the degree program.

The rules and conditions for admission into this department are constructed by the Academic Council on the recommendation of the Admission Committee each year.
