NDUB marks Victory Day & Christmas in spirit of unity

Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) celebrated Victory Day and Christmas through a colorful and dignified program on Sunday (December 21, 2025), reflecting the shared values of freedom, peace, and harmony.

The program began with the national anthem, along with the hoisting of the national flag and the NDUB flag. A universal prayer, led by Fr. Paschal Sarker, CSC, Deputy Director of Language Center, then set a reflective tone for the occasion.

The gathering observed a one-minute silence in memory of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, Co-founder and Spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho, who was martyred recently.

In his welcome address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Fr. Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC, highlighted the significance of Victory Day and Christmas in nurturing the values of freedom, service, and compassion.

Three documentaries on NDUB’s activities, Victory Day, and Christmas, prepared by the university’s Public Relations (PR) Office, were subsequently screened.

Dr. Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, Dean of NDUB, delivered a speech on the importance of Victory Day. Later, a duet song performed by teachers and students added to the festive mood.

Bishop Subroto Boniface Gomes addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest, underscoring the message of Christmas centered on love, compassion, and harmony. A symbolic cake-cutting ceremony followed, marking the joy of the season. Fr. Ashim Theotonius Gonsalves, CSC, Deputy Registrar, shared words of appreciation on the occasion.

The program further featured a drama staged by students under the direction of Renet J. Paul Gomes, which drew warm applause from the audience. Christmas gifts were presented to the chief guests, while Dr. Bro. Subal Lawrence Rozario, CSC, Registrar of NDUB, delivered the vote of thanks.

The event concluded with a Christmas carol performed by Newton Mondol and his team, followed by a shared lunch, bringing the day’s celebrations to a joyful close.
