With the promise of providing modern education and all the facilities to build ideal citizens, Notre Dame University Bangladesh organized the freshers’ orientation for all the new students of the 25th batch on Saturday (July 8). Freshers’ orientation was held on the university’s own campus through glorious arrangements.
University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Father Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC presided over the freshers’ orientation. Dhaka University’s Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad was present as the chief guest. And the BOT chairman of the university Dr. Father George Kamal Rozario, CSC was present as a special guest. The treasurer of the university, Father S. Adam Pereira, CSC, Registrar Dr. Father Leonard Shankar Rozario, CSC, Dean, heads of different faculties, administrative, academic, and non-academic staff, new students and their parents was also present at this program.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the University Vice-Chancellor and the Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag and the University Flag. At this time, the students performed the national anthem. Later, floral greetings were given to the new students along with the guests.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the new students in his welcome address. He said, “University is a new place for all of you, here you will rediscover yourself and grow not only as a good student but also as a good person. And for that, Notre Dame University Bangladesh will give you all possible support.”
The chief guest greeted and congratulated all the students and said “I believe in the youth, because it is these youth who can do many impossible things which many of us cannot do. This young age is the real-time to enter the battle of life. Get ready because only through you will change our society.”
University’s Registrar Dr. Father Leonard Shankar Rozario, CSC introduced all the teachers on the occasion. And Deputy Registrar Father Asim Ganachalves, CSC informed everyone about Registrar Office activities, Exam Office activities, Accounts Office activities, various club activities, and counseling services. Later, University’s Proctor Father Lawrence Naresh Das, CSC presented the Students’ Code of Conduct of the University through a video presentation.
Apart from this, Sadia Jahan Mohona, one of the current students, said in her sharing that apart from the classroom education of the university, as a student, freshers have to acquire knowledge through other means and that opportunity is here. Also, Prottoy Victor Rozario from the new students and Subrata Solomon Gomes from the new parents shared their hopes. At various stages of the program, the current students present dances, songs, recitations, and plays which make the event more enjoyable. Finally, the assistant registrar Father Nitya Ekka, CSC announced the end of the program by a vote of thanks.
