Notre Dame University Bangladesh Debating Club (NDUBDC) hosted a workshop for the students of Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB). The workshop featured Mr. Tanvir Ashraf, Ex-President of Notre Dame Debating Club (NDDC). The workshop was inaugurated by the Moderator of NDUBDC, Mr. Kamol Gomes who is also a senior lecturer in Business Administration. The students were highly inspired by the veteran debater and highly qualified public speaker. Mr. Tanvir began with a brief history of debating in Bangladesh in which he mentioned that ‘The History of Debating in Bangladesh begins with Notre Dame College Debating Club.’ He also spoke about his own personal journey of overcoming obstacles in the field of debating which very much inspired the students. The workshop mostly focused on the Spirit and Joy of debating in one’s everyday life. The veteran debater also shared his own experience on how he bagged a competitive job at a Multinational Company for his brilliant public speaking skills.  Apart from his own personal experiences he also spoke about technical issues of debates for e.g. the types of debates in Bangladesh, the etiquettes of debate, the importance of tone in building one’s personality, etc. He spoke in details about Parliamentary Debate and its relevance in Bangladesh. The 3 and a half an hour workshop included many open discussion sessions where students could interact with Mr. Tanbir. NDUBDC has already proposed a yearlong workshop plan with Mr. Tanvir’s illustrious debating team for hosting yearlong workshops for the enthusiastic members of NDUBDC. The workshop was moreover a very lively and interactive platform which motivated many participants to take up debating as a passion besides their university curriculum.
