NDUB students attend BICM Workshop on “Investment in the Capital Market”

Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) Business Club took the initiative to hold a workshop on “Investment in the Capital Market” on 15th October 2022 (Saturday). The students of the Business Administration department of the university participated in the day-long workshop organized by Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM).
The workshop based on basics of investment was initiated by Imran Mahmud, Lecturer of BICM at the Purana Paltan office of BICM where 60 students participated. NDUB faculty members including Tanzia Rahman, Dr. Vhokto Kumar Biswas, both Assistant Professor of Business Administration department and Aziza Akhter, Lecturer of the same department took part in the workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to provide the students with hands-on knowledge in the arena of investment in the capital market.
The workshop was conducted by the faculty members of the BICM disseminating recent and updated theoretical and practical knowledge. The Executive President of BICM Prof Dr. Mahmuda Akter shared her valuable words with the students as a part of the workshop. “ABCs of Financial Market”, “Economy and Capital Market”, “Real Life Trading in Dhaka Stock Exchange” and “Understanding Accounting Information for Investors” were discussed by Imran Mahmud, Gourav Roy, Lecturer of BICM, Faima Akter, Lecturer of BICM and Md. Adnan Ahmed, Lecturer of BICM respectively. A brief discussion on the Money Market and Capital Market, Economic Variables, Share Market trading process and Financial Statement Analysis took place. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks by Asif Imran, the Deputy Registrar of BICM. The students were encouraged by the faculties to implement the right investment knowledge while investing in the capital market. A surprise quiz was held at the end of the session, in which all the winners’ names were announced. Joab Khan, a student of BBA-16 and also a member of the Business Club was named the top scorer and awarded with a certificate.
