Training on Holy Cross Education for new faculty and staff

Aiming to provide a deeper understanding of the institution’s educational philosophy, Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) organized an orientation training on Holy Cross Education for newly recruited faculty and staff members on August 23, 2025, at the Holy Cross Pastoral and Retreat Center in Pubail, Gazipur.

The day-long program began with a prayer led by Fr. Paschal Babu Sarker, CSC, Deputy Director of NDUB Language Center, followed by welcome words and a briefing on the retreat center by Fr. James Clement Cruze, CSC, Director of the Holy Cross Pastoral and Retreat Center.

Sessions included topics such as Internationality of Holy Cross Education conducted by Dr. Fr. Charles B. Gordon, CSC, Pro-Vice Chancellor of NDUB, and Holy Cross Education in Bangladesh presented by Dr. Bro. Subal Lawrence Rozario, CSC, Head of HR and Administration at St. Joseph College and former Provincial of Holy Cross Brothers.

Dominic Dilu Peris, Director of HR at NDUB, coordinated the program and facilitated discussions on the structure of the university and key aspects of its service rules.

The program, attended by 20 participants, concluded with an open discussion and reflections. Subsequently, the team, led by Fr. Ashim T. Gonsalves, CSC, Deputy Registrar of NDUB, visited three historic churches in Gazipur’s Kaliganj upazila: St. John the Baptist Parish in Tumilia, Saint Nicholas Church in Nagori, and St. Augustine Catholic Church in Mathbari. The group returned to Dhaka that evening, carrying with them the insights and experiences of the day, inspired to further strengthen NDUB’s commitment to holistic education.
