NDUB hosts orientation for newly-recruited faculty, staff

Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) organized an orientation training on Holy Cross Education for the newly-recruited faculty and office staff members at the Holy Cross Pastoral and Retreat Center in Gazipur’s Pubail on Saturday (October 26).

The day-long program aimed to introduce the participants to the values and mission of Holy Cross Education, offering them a deep understanding of the institution’s educational philosophy.

The event commenced with a morning prayer led by Fr. Ashim Theotonius Gonsalves, CSC, Deputy Registrar of NDUB.

Distinguished resource persons — Dr. Fr. Charles B. Gordon, CSC, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of NDUB, and Fr. James Clement Cruze, CSC, Director of the Holy Cross Pastoral and Retreat Center — discussed the international dimension of Holy Cross Education, and Holy Cross Pastoral and Retreat Center respectively. Later, Dr. Br. Subal Lawrence Rozario, CSC, Provincial of the Holy Cross Brothers, delivered an insightful presentation on the significance of Holy Cross Education.

At the end of the training session, Dr. Fr. Subash Adam Pereira, CSC, Treasurer of NDUB, led an interactive session on Expectations of NDUB Teachers for Future Development. The participants sat in a roundtable format, engaging in a dynamic discussion where they shared their opinions and ideas, fostering a collaborative atmosphere aimed at enhancing NDUB’s growth and academic excellence.

The session, coordinated by NDUB’s HR Director Dominic Dilu Peris, concluded with closing remarks from Fr. Ashim.

Following the training, the participants had the opportunity to visit three historical churches in Gazipur’s Kaliganj upazila — St. John the Baptist Parish in Tumilia, Saint Nicholas Church in Nagori, and St. Augustine Catholic Church in Mathbari.

The group returned to Dhaka later that evening, enriched by the day’s experiences and ready to contribute to NDUB’s mission of holistic education.
