It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the recent train fire accident that has shattered the life of our esteemed alumnus, Asif Khan, a member of the 3rd batch of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department at Notre Dame University.

Asif, who was supposed to celebrate his first wedding anniversary on January 28, has tragically lost his beloved wife in this horrific incident. The identity of his wife remains unknown due to the severe burns she suffered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Asif and both families affected by this heart-wrenching loss.

Asif himself sustained severe burns, with approximately eight (8) percent of his body affected. He is currently undergoing critical treatment at the Sheikh Hasina Burn and Surgery Institute. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, as we fervently hope for his speedy recovery. May the Almighty grant him strength and healing during this challenging time. The pain and grief are immeasurable, but our collective prayers and support can be a source of strength for Asif and his family.

In this trying time, we humbly request the Notre Dame University community, friends, and well-wishers to join us in prayer. Let us pray for Asif’s swift recovery, offering our deepest condolences to his family and his wife’s family. May God grant them the resilience to overcome this tragic loss and heal the wounds of their hearts.

Additionally, let us extend our prayers to all those who were on that ill-fated train, praying for the health and well-being of the survivors. May the Almighty forgive any sins and grant eternal peace to those who did not survive, welcoming them into Paradise.

Together, let our thoughts and prayers create a circle of support, embracing Asif and all those affected by this sorrowful incident. We stand united as a Notre Dame University family, offering our condolences and seeking solace in our shared prayers during this challenging time.
