Notre Dame University Bangladesh Hosts Inter-department Annual Cricket Tournament 2024

Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) commenced Interdepartmental Annual Cricket Tournament 2024, on February 16, 2024, which featured an inauguration ceremony with esteemed guests and enthusiastic participants.

The event commenced with an inaugural speech from the Presider, Registrar Dr. Fr. Leonard Shankar Rozario, CSC, setting the tone for the exciting tournament ahead. He emphasized the spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition among the departments.

The Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fr. Patrick D. Gaffney, CSC, afterward shared, “Sports foster teamwork and discipline, essential for success in academics and life. I wish all the participating teams the best of luck.”

As the Special Guest, the Treasurer, Dr. Fr. Subash Adam Pereira, CSC, expressed his support for the tournament and emphasized the importance of balancing academics and extracurricular activities.

In the following segment, a photo session captured the enthusiasm of the four departmental teams – Business Administration, Computer Science and Engineering, English, and Law – along with their managers and the esteemed guests. The coveted champion trophy stood as a symbol of the tournament’s prestige.

As a symbolic gesture of the official inauguration, balloons were released by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fr. Patrick D. Gaffney, CSC, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fr. Charles B. Godron, CSC, Treasurer Dr. Fr. Subash Adam Pereira, CSC, Registrar Dr. Fr. Leonard Shankar Rozarion, CSC, Convener of Annual Sports and Cricket Tournament Sr. Shagorica Maria Gomes, CSC, Coordinator of Annual Sports and Cricket Tournament Stanly Pius Rozario, the dedicated organizing committee members, and the managers with their captains representing each department. Simultaneously, the Indoor Annual Sports 2024 was inaugurated, adding another layer of excitement to the university’s sports calendar.

With the official ceremonies concluded, the cricket tournament began with three thrilling matches: CSE vs. Law, Business Administration vs. English, and CSE vs. English. 

The players, umpires, and spectators alike eagerly awaited the unfolding of competitive spirit and sportsmanship on the cricket field.
