NDUB CSE Fest ends with 86 university teams

The three-day “NDUB CSE Fest 2026” concluded at Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) through a vibrant celebration of technology, innovation, and creativity with participation from students, teachers, and technology enthusiasts from different colleges and universities across the country.

The festival ended on Saturday evening (May 16, 2026) with a colorful closing ceremony. Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, Professor of CSE Department at BRAC University and Former Professor of BUET, spoke at the program as the chief guest, while Dr. Fr. Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC, Vice Chancellor of NDUB, delivered a welcome speech.

During his speech, Dr. Kaykobad said NDUB is gradually establishing itself as a shining institution in the country’s academic and technological arena following the proud legacy of Notre Dame College. He added that physical strength has limitations, but intellectual strength can grow endlessly through knowledge and practice. At that time, he urged students to focus on developing their thinking and programming abilities for the country’s future progress.

Fr. Patrick emphasized the importance of creative thinking and technological skills in the modern world. Referring to the growing role of technology in space exploration, he said students should use computers not only as machines but also as tools for imagination, innovation, and problem-solving.

Among others, speeches were also delivered by Dr. Fr. Charles B. Gordon CSC, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Br. Subal Lawrence Rozario CSC, Registrar, Dr. Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, Dean, Prof. A. H. M. Saiful Islam, Chairman of the CSE Department, program convener Md. Khorshed Alam, and judges of different competitions.

Earlier, the three-day festival began on Thursday (May 14, 2026) with a colorful rally on the university campus. Later, the festival was officially inaugurated through a symbolic release of balloons and doves. Fr. Patrick, Fr. Charles, Br. Subal, and other distinguished guests were present on the occasion.

On Friday (May 15, 2026), the Inter College STEM Olympiad was held with the participation of more than a hundred students from different colleges. Vice Chancellor Fr. Patrick, Pro-Vice Chancellor Fr. Charles, Registrar Br. Subal, and many others attended the event. The first, second, and third positions were secured by the participants coming from Notre Dame College, with Viqarunnisa Noon School and College claiming the fourth position.

The main attraction of the festival, the Inter University Programming Contest (IUPC), was held on Saturday (May 16, 2026), featuring a total of 86 teams from different universities. The top seven teams were awarded in the competition. Among them, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET Agdum), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET Supernova), and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST Godfathers) became the champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up, respectively.

On the same day, a seminar titled “Beyond Code: Ethics, Logic, and Competitive Programming” was also organized. Speakers at the seminar included Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, Dr. Farzana Alam, Executive Director of AFEAHRD (Association for Environment & Human Resource Development), Shahriar Manzoor, Chairman of CSE Department at Southeast University, Dr. Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, and Fr. Ashim Theotonius Gonsalves CSC, Deputy Registrar of NDUB.

At the closing ceremony, distinguished guests handed over prizes to the winners of the IUPC and other competitions held during the fest. The program concluded with a lively cultural performance.
