Some months ago, representatives of South Korea’s Dong-Eui University happened to be approached in a Dhaka restaurant by NDUB students who engaged them in conversation. When the students learned the identity of their new acquaintances, they insisted that the Korean visitors to Dhaka should experience NDUB while they were in the city. They were so impressed with the students’ enthusiasm that they did indeed visit NDUB, where they met with the then Vice Chancellor, Fr. Patrick Gaffney, C.S.C. That meeting was a great success. On August 25, a second meeting was held at the university to build upon that promising beginning.
At this second meeting, Dong-Eui University was represented by Dr. Yaeji Kim, Vice Dean of International Affairs, Director of the International Student Support Center, and Head Professor of Global Hospitality Management, and Dayae Han (Alice) from the International Exchange Team.
Prof. Dr. Fr. Charles B. Gordon, CSC, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Bro. Subal Lawrence Rozario, CSC, Registrar, and Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidul Kabir, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Microbiology, represented NDUB.
Again, the meeting was a success, as ideas for deepening the new relationship between the two universities were explored in greater detail. The future holds out the prospect of fruitful exchanges of many kinds. And it is all happening because some of our students shared with people, they had just met their enthusiasm for their beloved NDUB.
