Seminar on intellectual property law held at NDUB

Notre Dame University Bangladesh Law Club (NDUBLC) organized an insightful seminar on intellectual property law on May 5, 2026, on the university campus.

The seminar, titled “Intellectual Property Law: Opportunities at Home and Abroad”, began with an opening speech by Dr. Fr. Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC, Vice Chancellor of NDUB. He emphasized the growing importance of intellectual capital in today’s knowledge-driven economy.

The keynote address was delivered by Md. Belal Hossen, Assistant Director (Trademarks, WTO & International Affairs) at the Department of Patents, Industrial Designs and Trademarks under the Ministry of Industries.

In his speech, he highlighted that protecting intellectual property is no longer optional but a strategic necessity for businesses, innovators, and entrepreneurs aiming to compete both locally and internationally. He encouraged students to explore career opportunities in this field, noting that every invention, brand, and creative work represents a legal right that deserves protection.

The session concluded with remarks from Dr. Md. Mustakimur Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Law.
