Today, Thursday, August 24, 2023, on behalf of the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mohammed Shahabuddin, the Deputy Secretary Dr. Md. Farhad Hossain issued a decree that Prof. Dr. Father Charles Bruce Gordon, CSC, has been appointed as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Pro-VC) of Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB).

The announcement states that the Honorable President and Chancellor, in compliance with Section 32 (1) of the Private University Act 2010, approved the appointment of Prof. Dr. Father Charles Bruce Gordon, CSC, as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Notre Dame University Bangladesh.

According to the communique, his tenure as the Pro-VC will last for four years from the date of his joining. Currently, he is a professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at Notre Dame University Bangladesh. In his career, he taught at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, and Portland University, Origen, for many years. Besides, he served as the co-director of the Center for Catholic Intellectual Life and American Culture at the University of Portland.

Under the initiative of the Registrar, Dr. Father Leonard Shankar Rozario, CSC, a welcome ceremony was held for the newly appointed Pro-VC in the presence of the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Father Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC, Treasurer, Father Subash Adam Pereira, CSC, Proctor, Father Lawrence N. Das, CSC, Dean, Chairs of various faculties, teachers, and staff were present during the celebration.
