NDUB Conducts Workshop at St. Joseph Higher Secondary School

NDUB arranged a workshop titled “The Craft of Paragraph Writing” for the higher secondary students of St. Joseph Higher Secondary School on 20th September 2022. Nearly 70 students from higher secondary classes attended the workshop and over 300 were present at the discussion session.
The workshop was conducted by Sami Hossain Chisty who is a lecturer in the Department of English at NDUB. The resource person focused on the strategies of producing an effective paragraph while stressing on issues like pre-writing, writing an effective topic sentence, and maintaining cohesion and coherence in a paragraph. He argued that students should overcome the habit of memorization and follow the internationally recognized strategies of writing a paragraph.
One of the participants of the workshop, Anup Kundu said, “The workshop was a fruitful one. We have learned many new techniques of composition writing through this program. . Now we can write any paragraph on an uncommon topic.”
The Chief Guest of the event Brother Leo J Pereira, CSC, also Principal of St. Joseph Higher Secondary School encouraged the students to be conscious of selecting any institute for higher studies. He thanked NDUB for arranging such academic workshops that can benefit the students.
The Public Relations department of the university displayed a brief introduction to NDUB. At the end of the program, all the participants were awarded with certificates and gifts.
NDUB’s Director of Development Administration Fr Frank Quinlivan, CSC, Student Counselor and Director of Maintenance Fr. Edmond Cruze, CSC and, Deputy Registrar Fr. Ashim Theotonius Gonsalves, CSC were present as special guests.
As part of developing youth’s academic skills, Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) initiated an academic campaign titled ‘Developing Youth Academic Skills’ before the COVID-19 pandemic. This workshop marked the beginning of the second phase of this endeavor.
