Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) organized a workshop titled “Developing Youth Academic Skills” for higher secondary students of St. Francis Xavier’s Girls’ School & College on May 19, 2025, aiming to enhance academic skills among youth and equip them with essential knowledge and techniques for effective essay writing.
Nearly 60 students actively participated in the workshop. The session was conducted by Yeassin Saha Nawaj Salim, Lecturer in the Department of English at NDUB, who focused on strategies for writing effective essays. He encouraged students to adopt internationally recognized methods of academic writing rather than depending on memorization.
In the second session of the program, a documentary video—produced by NDUB’s Public Relations Office—was presented, followed by a PowerPoint presentation by Public Relations Officer Emad Uddin Sordar, highlighting NDUB’s vibrant campus life, academic environment, and student facilities.
Dr. Fr. Subash Adam Pereira, CSC, Treasurer and Acting Proctor of NDUB, delivered an insightful speech, introducing the university’s values, academic activities, and student-centered initiatives. He emphasized the importance of nurturing critical thinking and creativity among students and invited them to explore the opportunities offered by NDUB.
Sr. Mabel Costa, RNDM, Principal of St. Francis Xavier’s Girls’ School & College, expressed her appreciation to NDUB for conducting such a meaningful program. She encouraged students to be thoughtful and informed while selecting institutions for higher education.
Maria Afroz Tonima, one of the participants, shared that the workshop was fruitful and provided her with valuable techniques for improving her essay writing.
Rakhshanda Mahtab, a current student at NDUB and alumna of St. Francis Xavier’s Girls’ School & College, reflected on her enriching academic journey at NDUB and how it helped shape her personal and academic growth.
At the conclusion of the event, all participants received certificates and gift items as a token of appreciation. The program was supported by Newton Mondol from the PR Office, Mazharul Islam from the IT Office, and a dedicated group of student volunteers.
