Shanjida Israt Jahan Efat

Shanjida Israt Jahan Efat is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Law at Notre Dame University Bangladesh. Simultaneously, she works as Associate Researcher of Bangladesh Team of a research project of International Federation of Catholic Universities, Paris (since November 26, 2017 to till date). Before that, she served as a Lecturer in Law at the same institution. Earlier, she worked for more than two years as a Lecturer in Law at Metropolitan University, Sylhet. She is a member of the Editorial Board of NDUB Journal of Research.

Mrs. Efat completed her LL.B.(Hons.) from Stamford University, Bangladesh and LL.M. in International Law (Two years programme) from South Asian University, Delhi. The topics of her theses at the time of graduation and post-graduation were respectively ‘Separation of Judiciary in Bangladesh: A Review of Secretary, Ministry of Finance Vs. Masdar Hossain and Others’ and ‘Human Trafficking in Bangladesh: A Legal and Policy Analysis’. She has completed a course on Advance Research Methodology, Department of IER, University of Dhaka.

She engaged herself in several research works. These research works include publishing articles in national and international peer-review journals as well as presenting conference papers in various prestigious conferences both at home and abroad. She also delivered lectures in several workshops titled ‘Women in Justice Programme’ arranged by USAID and other NGO’s. She also delivered lectures as a guest in several seminars arranged by BLAST (Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust) in Sylhet. She wrote for national daily newspaper too.  She is presently working on juvenile delinquency, children’s rights, women’s rights, state’s accountability to implement social rights under international laws etc.


Achievements:

1. Obtained “South Asian University Scholarship” from South Asian University, New Delhi in 2011 and 2012.
2. Obtained around 75% average marks on Bachelor of Laws with Honors Program, 2010 under Stamford University Bangladesh and achieved 6 full scholarships for excellent       result in trimester.
3. Obtained around 75% average marks on Higher Secondary Certificate Examination, 2005 under Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jessore, Bangladesh.
4. Obtained around 74% average marks on Secondary School Certificate Examination, 2003 under Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jessore, Bangladesh.
5. Obtained “Junior Scholarship” from Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jessore, Bangladesh in 2001 and “Primary Scholarship” from Board of Intermediate and     Secondary Education, Jessore, Bangladesh in 1997.
