Arif Ahmed has obtained LL.B. (Hon’s) and LL.M. degrees from the Faculty of Law, University of Dhaka, and secured a First Class position in his LL.M. degree. Mr. Ahmed commenced his career as a Research Associate in a research organization named Human Development Research Centre (HDRC), Muhammadpur, Dhaka in January 2011. His main contribution was to ‘The Land Use Policy of Bangladesh’ in a project titled, ‘Land Law Review and Drafting of Land Laws for Bangladesh’ in the HDRC and he continued his job till October 2011 over there.
He started his teaching career as a Lecturer at the Department of Law & Justice, Bangladesh University of Business & Technology (BUBT) in October 2011. After that, he joined as a Lecturer at the Department of Law & Justice, Southeast University (SEU), Banani, Dhaka in September 2012. He worked as a Faculty Member at the Department of Law & Justice, Southeast University (SEU), Dhaka from September 2012 to November 2020. He has joined Southeast University (SEU) as a Lecturer and resigned from that University as an Assistant Professor. Arif Ahmed is also an enrolled Advocate at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh since 2017.
After leaving Southeast University, he joined as an Associate Advocate at The Legal Sanctuary (TLS), Bijoynagar, Dhaka in November 2020 and worked as a practicing Lawyer at the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh till September 2021. Immediately before joining the NDUB in May 2022, Mr. Ahmed has served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Law, Dhaka International University (DIU), Banani, Dhaka till April 2022.
Arif Ahmed’s area of interest includes International Human Rights Law, International Law of Refugees, Public International Law, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He has published several research-oriented, student-friendly academic books and research articles in renowned national and international law journals. He is also used to writing in the law pages of the renowned national dailies like the Daily Star, Daily Observer, Daily Sun, Financial Express, Dhaka Tribune, etc. as a freelance journalist (columnist). Mr. Arif Ahmed has presented his research papers at different national and international law conferences. He aims to foster his career by teaching law at the University and aiding the justice-seeking people in Bangladesh.
