Tasnia Islam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB), having joined in July 2025. Prior to this, she worked as a faculty member in the Department of English at Presidency University, Dhaka, for nearly fourteen years (September 2011 – June 2025), beginning as a Lecturer and was later promoted to Assistant Professor.

She completed both her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Language and Literature and her Master’s in English Literature and Cultural Studies at Jahangirnagar University, graduating with distinction—securing 5th position in her undergraduate class and 3rd in her master’s cohort.

Over the course of her academic career, Tasnia has taught a wide range of courses in English language and literature, critical theory, cultural studies, American literature, South Asian literature, African-Caribbean literature, feminist literature, translation theory and practice, and creative writing.

Her research interests include literary and cultural theory, gender theory, performance theory and music, and translation studies. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, and her translation work encompasses both literary texts and theoretical writings.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Tasnia is an active creative writer, with several of her original works published in literary platforms and anthologies. She is also a co-founder of Hermeneutix – A Center for Translation, Editing, and Publication, where she collaborates on cross-cultural literary and academic projects.
