Momotaz Huq. She writes under the pen name Lopa Momotaz. Momotaz was born on November 17, 1980, in Narayanganj, Bangladesh. She completed her Honours and Master’s degree in Bengali language and literature from the National University in the academic year 2001-2. In 2012, she achieved the third position in first class in a diploma course in Planning and Development from the National Planning and Development Academy under the University of Dhaka.
She won the national award by grabbing second place in the acting category of ‘NotunKuri’, Bangladesh Television’s biggest talent hunt show held in 1994. She became a champion in her university life by achieving the top spot in three areas: recitation, acting, and extempore speech. Since her student days, she was actively involved with the little mag ‘Dhaboman’, a mouthpiece for the progressive movement in art and literature. She edited the literary magazine ‘Sakal’ during college life.
Momotaz has a vast experience of working in the media industry at a national and international level. Her works, including poems, prose, and travelogues, are regularly published in various media outlets. She has also participated in theatre acting, and recitations, and hosted TV shows. Momotaz continues to express herself creatively through poetry, prose, and travelogues.
Currently she is a lecturer of Bengali language and literature at Notre Dame University, Bangladesh.
