Momotaz Huq. She writes under the pen name Lopa Momotaz. She is a Lecturer in Bengali Language and Literature at Notre Dame University Bangladesh. She completed her B.A. (Hons) and M.A. in Bengali Literature from the National University, and a Diploma in Development Planning from the National Academy for Planning and Development, University of Dhaka, securing fourth place in the first class.
A distinguished poet, writer, and former editor of the literary magazine Shokal, she received the Literary Honor 2024 from Bornô, Assam, India, for her celebrated poetry collection Lopa O Lilith. Her notable works include Etihasher Footnote (Selected Interviews, 2019), Trachodon o Haser Bacchagulo (Stories, 2023), and Sangbadikota Bisoyok Prathomik Dharona (2010). She also edited the documentary books Ei Amader Jibon and Alo Andharer Jibon (2012).
Beyond academia, Momotaz has extensive experience in media and performing arts. She won second place in acting in Natun Kuri, Bangladesh Television’s national talent competition, and was Cultural Champion at Govt. Tolaram College for excellence in recitation, acting, and extempore speech. She has performed in theatre, hosted television programs, and actively participated in literary and cultural initiatives.
She has experience in media, theatre, and cultural initiatives, enriching her literary perspective. She has participated in and facilitated national and international workshops on literature, media, human rights, and development communication in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Through her teaching, research, and creative works, she continues to inspire students and promote Bengali literature and culture.
