NDUB holds workshop on “Using Emotional Intelligence for a Better Classroom Engagement & Performance”

Notre Dame University Bangladesh initiated a workshop on “Using Emotional Intelligence for a Better Classroom Engagement & Performance” on 23rd September 2022 at the open square, keeping Vice Chancellor of NDUB Prof. Dr. Fr. Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC as the chief guest. Fr. Charles Gordon CSC, a senior Professor of the university, Sr. Shagorica Maria Gomes, CSC, Asst. Director, Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Aloke Kumar Chokroborty, Dean of Faculty, Prof. Dr. Parimal Chandra Datta, Chairperson & Coordinator, BBA & MBA programs, Department Head of Business Administration and also A.H.M Saiful Islam, Head of the Department of CSE.

The audience and participants of this seminar were basically all the faculty members of different departments of NDUB. The resource person of the session was Ahmed Bari, Dean & life coach, Workplace Skill Development Academy (WSDA) New Zealand. He has been in the training industry for more than 20 years. Also, He has been working as an international trainer in Bangladesh, New Zealand, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, and many other countries.

Father Patrick delivered the welcoming speech. The coach trained and engaged the faculties with different learning hacks and activities, drawing attention to key important issues that must be very assisting for the faculties to engage the students in different ways. Besides these, the trainer also focused on developing soft skills, controlling our emotions, and accepting challenges. One of the major job requirements of today’s industry is Emotional Intelligence rather than IQ and other hard skills. The session was lively & helpful for the teachers indeed. At the end of the session, Certificates were distributed among the faculties. The Deputy Registrar, Fr. Ashim Theotonius Gonsalves, CSC rendered the vote of thanks and put a conclusion to the session.

The faculty members thanked the NDUB authorities for arranging such a different and important initiative.
