NDUB welcomes Father Adam S. Perera, CSC as Treasurer

Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) welcomed Father Adam S. Perera, CSC on Tuesday, 11 January 2022 as its second Treasurer.

Fr. Patrick D. Gaffney, CSC, Vice-Chancellor of NDUB introduced and welcomed him.

The colorful reception program was ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Fr. Leonard Shankar Rozario, CSC.

According to the office order of November 30, 2021 by the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the university, the former Registrar of Notre Dame University Bangladesh, Father Adam S. Perera, CSC has been appointed as the Treasurer in accordance with Section 33 (1) of the Private Universities Act, 2010. The order stated that the term of his appointment as Treasurer would be 4 years from the date of joining.

Born in Dharanda of Savar upazila under Dhaka district, Father Adam completed his primary education from St. Joseph’s Primary School, Dharanda, Savar.

He completed his Secondary School Certificate from Savar Adhar Chandra Multilateral High School, his Higher Secondary Certificate from Notre Dame College, Dhaka, and his Bachelor of Arts from the same College under Dhaka University.

He studied Philosophy and Theology at the Holy Spirit National Major Seminary, Banani.

Father Adam holds a Master of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling from De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines, He later obtained another Master’s Degree in English Literature.

He is currently working on his Ph.D research at Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, India.

He worked in a catholic parish in Tangail, Madhupur for three years.

He served as the Director of the Pastoral Center of Barisal for three years and also was the Director of the Holy Cross Seminary for three years.

He was the National Youth Coordinator and Chaplain of the Young Christian Students Movement for 8 years.

Fr. Adam S. Pereira, CSC taught Pastoral Counseling Psychology at Holy Spirit National Major Seminary in Banani for 18 years.

He was one of the councilors of the Congregation of Holy Cross Priests’ Society for 23 years, and a member of the planning committee of Holy Cross Congregation in Rome for three years.

He founded Mairano Pereira Trust in his village in 2021 and he has been serving as its founding President since.

Father Adam was the moderator of Notre Dame College Debating Club and Degree Club along with the Head of the English Department of the college. He also served as the Associate Vice Principal of Notre Dame College.

Father Adam was one of the members of the NDUB Board of Trustees and the Minutes Secretary. As the founding Registrar of NDUB, he served as the secretary of NDUB Syndicate and the NDUB Academic Council and member of the Discipline Committee till 2021. He was also an Associate Professor of English and served as the Head of the Dept. of English Language and Literature until March 2020.

He wrote two books: one is a biography – Dibaloker Uzzal Nakshatra: Theotonious Amal Ganguly, CSC and the other one is Mulyobodhe Jiban Gathan.

He also compiled two books:  A Sparkling Light: Father R. W. Timm, CSC, which was completed after the death of Father Timm.

The other one is—Juba-Premi Pope Dwitiyo John Paul er Bani — a compilation of 25 messages of Pope John Paul II; about half of them were translated by Fr. Adam and the rest were done by others.

Along with these, he translated a biography titled – Bangladesh Credit Unioner Janak Fr. Charles J. Young, CSC; originally written by Father R. W. Timm, CSC.
