The construction of a 12-storey main building of Notre Dame University Bangladesh will start soon at the present site of NDUB. However, a secondary building is required to continue all academic and administrative activities while the main building is in construction. Fr. James Clement Cruz, C.S.C., Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, officially inaugurated the construction work of the secondary building on 14th August at 2 pm. He was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Also present on occasion were the Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr. Fr. Patrick Daniel Gaffney, C.S.C., Registrar Father Adam S, Perera, C.S.C., Engineer Taslimuddin Jamaddar, administrative officers, office staff, maintenance staff, a limited number of students, seminarians, and chairman of Khan & Sons Bangladesh Ltd. Mujibur Rahman Khan and other officials.
Speaking on occasion, Father James Clement Cruz, C.S.C. said, “It’s a day of joy for all concerned, including the students of Notre Dame Univ3ersity as we stand witness to the history. Today we begin construction work of a 7-storey secondary building. The construction will be completed fast (within ten months to 1 year). As soon as the work on this building is completed, we will start the construction work of the permanent building of the university. I am sorry on behalf of the university for those who are staying inside the campus. They will have to bear the discomforts for some time while the work is in progress.” He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all those who have been cooperating to construct this building.
