Dilip kumar Sarker was born in a remote village of Naogaon District, Bangladesh on 25 January 1964. His parents took him to India in 1971 for schooling when he was only 7 years old. So, he had his early education from a reputed school in Uttar Dinajpur, India. In fact he had his 8 years schooling there. At the age of 15 he came back to Bangladesh, his motherland. He passed the SSC exam in 1979 from another famous school in Natore under Rajshahi Board where he studied 2 years under the watchful care of his maternal uncle. He passed the H.S.C exam in 1981 from Abdulpur Govt. Degree College under the same Education Board. Though he was a student of science, he was immensely interested in English Literature. So, after passing the H.S.C exam he got admitted to the Dept. of English of Rajshahi University. There he studied English Literature. He obtained Honours and MA in English Literature from Rajshahi University in 1985 and 1986 respectively. During his student life he was actively involved in different social and humanitarian activities, such as teaching financially poor students free, giving financial help to them, taking part in blood donation program and distributing warm clothing among the poor people.

After obtaining his Honours and MA he joined Barandra College which was newly founded. The college didn’t have good fund, so at the request of the Principle he worked there six months without salary. However he quit the job from Barandra College in 1989 and came to Dhaka. He believes that Missionary Education Institutions are capable of imparting quality education to the students. In these Educational Institutions everything goes perfectly right as is expected. Considering all these he joined the special English Program of Notre Dame College in 1990 and he worked there more than 19 years under the guidance of the Reverend Father James T. Banas CSC who was the Director of the program. He worked at BCIC Science College in Mirpur 1 year. A few Training Institutes of Language at Bhuiyan Academy as a guest teacher about 1 year.  A few Training Institutes of commercial Banks in Bangladesh regularly invite him to conduct Business English classes for the junior and senior Bank officers. The noted Training Institutes among these are the Pubali Bank Training Institute, Agrani Bank Training Institute and Bank Asia Training Institute.

However his dream to teach in a University came true when he got the opportunity to join Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology (ADUST) as an Assistant Professor on 1 August 2009. He worked there as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor of English until 2016. Though he quit the job from the special English Program of Notre Dame College in 2009, his love for Notre Dame never dwindled with time. When Notre Dame University Bangladesh formally started the Journey in December, 2014, he was cherishing hope to work there. So, his another dream came true when he got the opportunity to join NDUB which enjoys a good reputation as one of the raising Private Universities in Bangladesh. He joined NDUB as an Assistant Professor of English on 2 May 2016.

He has one important philosophy of life, that is, he gives more importance to peace and happiness than money and wealth. In his leisure time he listens to music specially Rabindra Sangit and walks in the greenery with serenity around.
