


Notre Dame University Bangladesh English Club (NDUBEC) successfully concluded its intra-university cultural and literary competition with an award-giving ceremony and vibrant cultural performances on Tuesday (September 2, 2025).
The event, titled “Light Within the Masquerade”, was graced by the presence of renowned actor and National Film Award winner, Shahiduzzaman Selim, as the Chief Guest.
It marked the finale of a week-long competition, which began on August 26, engaging students from all departments in various literary and cultural activities.
The program began with a welcome speech given by Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Fr. Charles B. Gordon, CSC, followed by a short drama performance that showcased the students’ acting and storytelling skills. After that, Professor Golam Sarwar Chowdhury, Chairman of the English Department, delivered an inspiring speech to the audience.
A major highlight of the event was the cosplay segment, where students brought fictional characters to life with creative costumes and performances.
While addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shahiduzzaman Selim praised the artistic efforts of the students and encouraged NDUB students to stage more dramas with Bangladeshi cultural context, mentioning the works of Selim Al Deen, Humayun Ahmed, and Rabindranath Tagore.
The program concluded with a farewell to the previous executive committee and an award ceremony for the winners in various categories, followed by a vote of thanks from Sr. Shagorica Maria Gomes, CSC, Deputy Director of Student Affairs.
