Nishat Tarannum

Details

Nishat is presently working as a full-time Lecturer in the Department of Law at Notre Dame University Bangladesh from July 2023 till present. Previously, she served as a Lecturer in the Department of Law and Justice at The People’s University of Bangladesh from December 2019 to May 2023. She has completed LLB. (Hons.) from BRAC University with Distinction and LLM. from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Bangladesh (Merit position, 1st in LLM). She has been awarded the Vice Chancellor Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Additionally, she has authored a scholarly article with Associate Professor Advocate Rashed Ahmed titled ‘A Critical Review on Women Oppression & Threats in Private Spheres: Bangladesh Perspective,’ published in the American International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Vol -1, No 2, 2019. Another article, ‘The Notion of Blue Economy in Connection with International Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) of Bangladesh,’ was published by the Bangladesh Institute of Legal Development (BILD), Vol 2, Issue 1, 2021. Nishat has also been selected as a Millennium Fellow 2020 as Lead Researcher for ‘Project Bajho,’ a Kathmandu School of Law-based project which is a part of the Millennium Fellowship conducted by the Millennium Campus Network and United Nations Academic Impact 2020.

  • Workshop on ‘Land Laws, Corporate Documentation, and Litigation’ organized by Bangladesh Institute of Legal Development (BILD) on 22nd & 24th December 2018.

  • Participated in Price Media Law Moot Competition at National Law University Delhi, organized by Oxford University in 2014.
