NDUB Drama and Film Club observes “Asho shorot er akash bhelai”

NDUB Drama and Film Club has organized a program entitled toএসো শরতের আকাশ ভেলায়” / “Asho shorot er akash bhelai” on 27th September 2022 at Notre Dame University Bangladesh’s Open Square. The program is basically organized to celebrate the essence of fall, which is Bengali season “Shorot” and also to welcome the freshers of the students of 23rd batch. A numerous number of poems and songs had been written centering this specific season.

The chief guest of this program was Prof. Dr. Fr. Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC, Vice Chancellor of NDUB. Among others Sr. Shagorika Maria Gomes, CSC, Asst. Director, Student Affairs along with Prof. Dr. Aloke Kumar Chokroborty, Dean of Faculty and Fr. Robert R. Nokrek, CSC, assistant to the registrar were present among others. The club Moderator, Ranet John Paul Gomes, Assistant Professor of Business Administration department and the Co-moderator, Afrista Birjis, Assistant Professor of the same department graced the program with their presence.

At the very beginning chief guest Father Patrick delivered the welcoming speech. Ranet John Paul Gomes had shared some inspirational words with the students about the club activities later on. The program started with a welcoming dance of Limu, Orpa, Smrity, Barnaly and Maria by which they welcomed the new members of the club and the freshers. Two more captivating dance performances of Payel, Ahona, Cynthia, Zarrin and Ornika were enjoyed by the audiences. A marvelous ramp performance was done by Nishant, Ridita, Maria, Lamia, Olivia, Sanjida and Limu to entertain the audience. A small stage drama named ভাড়াটে চাই” /“Bharate Chai” written by noted author Narayan Gangopadhyay was played by the NDUB Drama and Film Club. Abir, Inzamamul, Nicolas, Agnila, Maria, Mohima, Suhana and Tanzim played various roles in this drama which was directed by the club moderator Ranet John Paul Gomes. The audiences really enjoyed the comedy based drama.

Finally four songs were performed by Saad and his team, and Alex and his team which were enormously appreciated by the large audience of around 300. The overwhelming response clearly explains the interest and determination of students and faculty members to celebrate the culture in any means.

The program was ended by the vote of thanks given by the co-moderator of the club, Afrista Birjis, Assistant Professor of the university.

Archi and Sadia carried out the program as hosts. A team consisting Setu, Shafin, Drishaw and Sabreena were responsible for documentation from the club.NDUB Drama and Film club is really grateful for the engagement of faculties, staff and students in the program. Rooted to their very own tradition, NDUB Drama and Film club will always make sure to celebrate each and every thing that is connected to Bangladeshi culture and appreciates students’ talent in every field of arts and culture.
